1996 Corvette GrandSport #387
This was my last car prior to getting into the MR2 scene. Red interior car, sport suspension, etc. Think those two options made it one of less than 86 or something crazy like that. To top it off, the car was a Lingenfelter stroked 383 initially with an added Procharger supercharger running about 7 lbs of boost. While I had the car we had it stroked out to 396 like the original GrandSport racers. Ran either 6 or 7 lbs boost on the new setup and produced some pretty good horsepower and some really ridiculous torque. The car would easily do over 187 (car was tested to this speed with witnesses and a passenger) and was seriously INSANE and had a lot more gear left but was beginning to become aerodynamically unstable without some modifications (spoiler/wing setup would be at least needed). You could really toy with anything from Ferraris to SL55 AMGs and even fly through police speed traps without concern in that car. Far more than I needed in a street car! I can't believe I'm still alive after owning that car, the fact that I am is a testament to that car's great overall setup. It needed/deserved a roll cage honestly!

The car had drag radials up front and in the rear when I got it... seemed a bit overkill, but I never could wear the dern things out, so they stayed like that the whole time I had the car! Nitto drag radials... go figure!

Beautiful engine bay... just WOW...

It liked to visit with its elder kinfolk...

It played well with other younger brothers...

And even let a cousin or two get in on some pictures...

Out for a drive with a friend...

Remove Before Flight... fairly appropriate here... especially considering the instrument cluster and interior setup is reminiscent of a fighter plane cockpit.

Yes... hard to believe but I left the cover off one night to awake the next morning to this... I'm glad Dad never saw this picture or got told about that story! He'd have been all over me for that one!!

Artsy shot of the emblem/vents...

Lingenfelter goodness...

I always loved the pictures with the top in the back...
